PVC hose: types, reinforcements and uses

A PVC hose is a flexible, lightweight hose made of plasticised PVC, used to convey water, air and industrial, chemical or food-grade liquids. Depending on its reinforcement, it is suited to pressure (polyester braid) or to suction and delivery (rigid PVC or steel helix). Most models work from -10 °C to +60 °C.

Frequently asked questions about PVC hose

What temperature can a PVC hose withstand?

Most models work from -10 °C to +60 °C; Plana TM and Superelastic Transfor go down to -25 °C. Spring Pu olive oil reaches +80 °C and Aspiraflex, for cold and hot air, +130 °C.

What pressure can a PVC hose withstand?

It depends on the reinforcement and the diameter: the larger the diameter, the lower the pressure. Reinforced crystal works at 15 bar up to 16 mm and at 5 bar at 50 mm, and Fumiflex-40 reaches 40 bar.

Are there food-grade PVC hoses?

Yes. Enovin is for wine, must, vinegar, beer and dairy products; Olioflex and Spring Pu olive oil, for vegetable oils; and Spring and Crystal, for food-grade liquids. Reinforced crystal is suitable for food, except fatty foods.

Which PVC hose is suitable for diesel?

Spring-Gasoil, made of PVC with polymeric plasticisers and a galvanised steel helix. It is designed for the suction and delivery of petrol, fuel oil, oils and petroleum products, from -20 °C to +60 °C.

Which one should I use for slurry or waste water?

Transfor, abrasion-resistant, for slurry and aggressive liquids up to 300 mm; Superelastic Transfor, for sewers, septic tanks and slurry trailers; and PVC drainage, for drains, with an outer diameter matched to PVC fittings.
