Hydrocarbon hoses
At Tecniman we supply hoses for hydrocarbons, for both delivery and suction use. Hydrocarbon hoses are used to convey petrol, fuel oil, oil or any petroleum derivative.

Ask our expert advisers about the type of hydrocarbon hose and the specific characteristics your company needs in terms of temperature resistance, material, thickness and acid resistance.

Hydrocarbon and diesel hoses: models and how to choose

A hydrocarbon hose has an inner tube resistant to fuels and oils, in most models made of NBR rubber, and is used to transfer diesel, petrol, fuel oil, kerosene or mineral oils. To choose one, consider whether it will work on delivery or suction, the pressure, the aromatic content of the product and electrostatic discharge.

Frequently asked questions about hydrocarbon hoses

Which hose should I use for diesel?

The Spring-Gasoil, made of PVC with a steel helix, is used for suction and delivery of petrol, fuel oil and oils from -20 °C to +60 °C. The Standard Composite Oil explicitly lists diesel and, for higher pressure, there are NBR hoses such as the Hydrocarbon suction 10 bar or the Multiflex.

What does maximum aromatic content mean?

It is the maximum percentage of aromatics, the components most aggressive to rubber, that the inner tube can handle: 50% for the 10 and 15 bar NBR hoses and the Petrol-SPL15, 40% for the Multiflex, 30% for the aviation hoses and up to 100% for the Composite Oil.

Why does electrostatic discharge matter?

Fuel flow generates static electricity, which is discharged through a copper helix (Hydrocarbon delivery 15 bar), braids (Petrol-SPL15 and aviation types B and E) or a conductive rubber cover (Hydrocarbon suction 10 bar and Multiflex).

Which hose is suitable for aviation fuel?

Types B, C, E and F (BS EN 1825:2011), at 20 bar and from -25 °C to +70 °C. Types B and C are for delivery; type E, with a steel helix, and type F, with a non-metallic helix, are also suitable for suction.

What is the difference between delivery and suction?

A suction hose has a helix that stops it collapsing under vacuum: the Hydrocarbon suction 10 bar and the Multiflex withstand 0.8 bar of vacuum. The Hydrocarbon delivery 15 bar, without a steel helix, is intended for delivery.
