Polyurethane hose: types, sizes and uses

Polyurethane hose is flexible tubing made wholly or partly of polyurethane. It comes in two formats: thin tubing for pneumatics, robotics and hydraulics, and 20 to 600 mm hoses with a helix for suction and delivery of granules, sawdust, cereals, sand or cement.

Frequently asked questions about polyurethane hoses

What temperature can a polyurethane hose withstand?

Most work up to +80 °C, with minimums from -20 to -40 °C depending on the model. Tecnipur is limited to +70 °C and the reinforced PVC-PU suction hose +85 °C. The thermoplastic hoses reach +100 °C (+70 °C with air and water-based fluids).

Which polyurethane hose is suitable for food?

Tecnipur-S and Spring Pu olive oil comply with regulations EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011, and Tecnipur-VAC with FDA and BfR standards. The three PVC-PU suction hoses are non-toxic and for food use. Tecnipur is also available in FDA food grade (code AF811).

Which model should I use in an ATEX installation?

Tecnipur, Tecnipur-S, Tecnipur-VAC and the antistatic PVC-PU suction hose are suitable for installations governed by ATEX regulations. The reinforced PVC-PU suction hose is available in antistatic quality on request (code AF240).

What pressure can polyurethane tubing withstand?

The blue tubing works at 8 to 15 bar depending on the diameter. The thermoplastic hoses with metal braid work at 175 to 325 bar, and the Micro hose at 630 bar.

Is polyurethane tubing available in a spiral version?

Yes. The blue tubing is also supplied as a spiral (coiled) hose with fittings, 5, 7.5 or 10 m long, with a 1/4" or 3/8" male thread.
