Hydraulic hoses
At Tecniman we supply hoses for medium and high pressure hydraulic applications, for pressure washing equipment, for conveying paints and varnishes and other applications. Hydraulic hoses are used for any application that requires high working pressures.

Thermoplastic hoses, hoses with external braided reinforcement and many more. You can rely on the help of our experts in industrial supplies. Write to us to ask for advice on the hydraulic hoses your company needs.

Hydraulic hoses: standards, pressures and sizes

A hydraulic hose carries pressurised oil between the pump, the valves and the cylinders of a machine. To choose one you need to look at the standard, which sets how it is built and what pressure it withstands, the inside diameter and the working temperature. Those in this category have an inner tube of oil-resistant synthetic rubber, except for the thermoplastic and PTFE ones.

Frequently asked questions about hydraulic hoses

What is the difference between a 1SN and a 2SN hose?

The 1SN (SAE 100 R1AT) has one steel braid and the 2SN (SAE 100 R2AT) has two. At the same diameter, the 2SN withstands considerably more pressure: in 1/4", 225 bar for the 1SN and 400 bar for the 2SN.

What do SAE 100 and EN 853 mean?

They are construction standards for hydraulic hoses: SAE is the American standard and EN the European one. SAE 100 R2AT and EN 853 2SN describe practically the same hose, and many are marked with both.

How do you read the size of a hydraulic hose?

By the inside diameter, in inches or millimetres: 1/4" is 6.4 mm, 3/8" is 9.5 mm, 1/2" is 12.7 mm and 1" is 25.4 mm. Within the same standard, the larger the diameter, the lower the working pressure.

What is the burst pressure?

On the SAE and EN hoses in the table, the burst pressure is four times the working pressure. That margin is for safety: the hose must not be operated above its working pressure or bent tighter than its minimum bend radius.

Do you make hydraulic hose assemblies to measure?

Yes. In our workshop we assemble and repair R1T, R2T, R9R, 4SH, R5 and thermoplastic hose assemblies, with crimped or reusable fittings. For more information, ask us about hose assembly and repair.
